AI Job Risk Check is a product of Phronesis Labs, LLC. This page explains what our service is, what it is not, and how you should use the information we provide.
Read this carefully before making any major decisions based on your Report.
What AI Job Risk Check Is
AI Job Risk Check is a research-informed career assessment tool. It uses:
- Publicly available occupational data from the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET database
- Current research on AI capabilities and adoption trends
- The job description and task ratings you provide
To produce:
- An estimate of how your specific job tasks may be affected by AI over time
- A general timeline for when those changes may occur
- Suggestions for actions you can take in response
What AI Job Risk Check Is Not
This is a research-informed estimate, not professional advice. Our Report is a starting point for your own thinking, not a final verdict on your career.
It is not a guarantee. Predictions about AI capabilities and timelines are inherently uncertain. We make our best effort to provide accurate, current information, but the future cannot be predicted with certainty. Your actual experience may differ significantly from what your Report describes.
Do not quit your job because of a single Report. No matter how high your AI Job Risk Score is, do not make impulsive career decisions based solely on our assessment. Major career decisions deserve careful thought, conversations with people who know your specific situation, and ideally input from a qualified career counselor.
Talk to a real career counselor, financial advisor, or licensed professional for major decisions. We can help you think about your situation. We cannot replace personalized professional guidance from someone who knows you, your industry, your finances, and your goals.
This Data Changes Over Time
The AI landscape changes rapidly. Our Reports reflect current research and capabilities at the time you take the assessment. If you take the assessment again in a month, six months, or a year, your score and recommendations may be different — sometimes meaningfully different.
This is not a bug. It reflects the reality that:
- AI capabilities expand rapidly
- Adoption patterns shift as new tools become available
- Research on job displacement is constantly being updated
- Your own role, tasks, or industry may evolve
We recommend treating your Report as a snapshot in time, not a permanent assessment. Retaking the assessment periodically (every six to twelve months) is a reasonable way to stay current.
What Your Score Actually Means
Your AI Job Risk Score is a relative estimate of how exposed your current tasks are to current and near-future AI capabilities. It is influenced by:
- The specific tasks you described and rated
- How well those tasks match what AI can do today and is likely to do soon
- The general trajectory of AI adoption in your occupation
It is not a prediction of:
- Whether you personally will be laid off
- Whether you will be promoted
- How your specific employer will respond to AI
- What your industry will look like in 10 years
- How your individual skills, relationships, or institutional knowledge will affect your job security
A high score does not mean you will lose your job. A low score does not mean you are safe. Your individual circumstances matter enormously, and we cannot model them all.
The Limits of Our Methodology
We use the best research available to us, but our methodology has limits:
- O*NET data is generalized. The standardized occupation that matches your job is an approximation, not an exact description of what you do. Two people with the same job title can have very different day-to-day work.
- AI capability research is evolving. Experts disagree about how fast AI will advance and how it will be adopted. We make reasonable judgments based on current research, but reasonable people could weigh the evidence differently.
- Local conditions vary. Your industry, region, employer, and seniority all affect how AI will actually impact your work. Our Report cannot account for all of these.
Use Your Judgment
The most important thing you can do with your Report is use it as a starting point for your own thinking, not as a verdict. Read it. Think about it. Talk to people who know your work. Use the Plan as a menu of possibilities, not a checklist of mandates.
The future is not fixed. Your Report is one input among many in figuring out how to navigate it.
