Where AI stands today
Minimal exposureFarm animal workers face minimal exposure to current AI. The work is overwhelmingly physical and situational: feeding and watering livestock, herding animals to pastures or trucks, administering medications, and mixing feed. A small handful of administrative edges, such as tracking animal health signs, ordering supplies, or keeping production records, could be partly assisted by software, but these represent a narrow slice of the role.
Where it's heading
Exposure today is minimal and will remain low for the foreseeable future. AI tools may streamline record-keeping or flag patterns in growth data, but the core of the job, direct animal handling and on-the-ground judgment, resists automation. The occupation will evolve more through sensor technology and equipment than through software taking over tasks.
