Physical setup and teardown of equipment resist automation entirely. Selecting and positioning microphones for a space, diagnosing hardware problems on the fly, and conferring with performers to achieve a specific sound all depend on human presence, intuition, and adaptability.

Large language models can draft session notes and suggest mixing parameters, but they cannot listen to a room, move a microphone, or take responsibility for a final recording. They lack the authority to make binding creative decisions and cannot respond to the physical and interpersonal variables that define live sound work.
