Planning itineraries and arranging logistics like accommodations and transport also have partial AI support through route optimization and booking tools. The core of the role, leading people through destinations and responding to their needs in real time, remains outside AI's reach.
The next few years
Exposure today is limited and will grow slowly. AI may increasingly handle pre-trip planning, compliance briefings, and post-tour reporting, freeing guides to focus on the live experience. The work will shift toward more interpersonal engagement and less paperwork, but the essential job of guiding people through physical spaces will remain a human responsibility for the foreseeable future.
